Art 4 Care Homes

Art 4 Care Homes is dedicated to enriching the lives of older persons in care homes through the power of art. We provide a variety of art classes that residents can take, including classes they can do with their visitors. Our classes are designed to stimulate creativity, foster social connections, and promote emotional well-being. Our passion for art and commitment to compassionate care drives our mission to create a positive impact in the lives of those we serve.

Art 4 Care Homes was founded by Dr. Sol Nte in November 2024. Dr. Nte  gained his PhD in Cognitive Psychology from Manchester University and spent 16 years (1998 - 2014) working in academic psychology research. He spent over a decade working at Keele University and subsequently worked at Manchester University before a taking a period of time out to care for his elderly parents. Having inherited some money when his parents passed away he became a stay-at-home Dad, and focussed on making art which had been his hobby since the late eighties. After being asked to do some art classes at his daughter's primary school, as well as Youlgrave Village Well Dressings, he decided that he'd like to do something that brings art and the enjoyment of creative activity to people who may not have easy access to it. Remembering his own experience of visiting older relatives in care homes, he decided that he wanted to provide art classes for care homes but with the twist that they would be classes you could do with your visitors, and that they would be offered regularly like mobile hairdressing. This became summed up in our tagline "We're like a mobile hairdressers, but for art!"
